While the images of Turisas and their fans presented in the video montage for “Battle Metal” are constructed by the band, video producers and industry executives, the video is revealing in its depiction of Turisas’s audience as inclusive of both men and women. The proportion of female performers and fans of heavy metal has been a contentious area of discussion at least since Walser’s intervention in Running with the Devil.
